Gil Lane-Young was born in Arnside,
Lancashire. He was originally brought up in Barrow in Furness, until
his parents began a long Army career. During their travels, they
lived in Germany, United Kingdom and Libya, before Colonel Ghaddafi.
After serving for 9 years in the Royal
Army Pay Corps himself, serving in various places such as Germany,
Singapore and the UK, Gil decided to become a civilian and settled
in Altrincham Cheshire.
In 1972, he joined Imperial Life Assurance
Company of Canada as a Life Assurance Salesman and after spending
16 enjoyable years with the company, rising to local Branch Manager;
he joined Legal & General in 1988.
Realising then that he really wanted
to be an Independent Financial Adviser, he left to set up his practice
in his own right in 1990.
In 1995, Gil became an appointed representative
of Financial Options and continued as such until April 2005. On the 26th July 2005 the practise became fully authorised in its own right as G R Lane - Young Financial Services.
Married to Victoria, whom he met whilst
acting at the Club Theatre, a local amateur dramatic society, at
the time run by Victorias parents, Gil and Victoria recently
celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
